Terms of service
Terms
The rules for buying from this site. Short, because there isn't much to say.
Last updated: September 2026
Who you're buying from
Harlan is an online store operating from Cape Town, South Africa. Contact matt@harlan.co.za for anything to do with your order.
Placing an order
When you place an order you're making an offer to buy. We accept it when we send you a confirmation email. If we can't fulfil an order, because a piece has sold out or a price was listed wrong, we'll tell you and refund you in full.
You need to be 18 or older, or have permission from a parent or guardian, to buy from this site.
Prices and payment
All prices are in South African Rand and include VAT where applicable. Delivery is charged separately unless your order qualifies for free delivery.
Payment is taken at checkout through our payment provider. We don't see or store your card details.
We try to keep prices and product details accurate, but mistakes happen. If something is listed at an obviously wrong price, we're not obliged to honour it, and we'll contact you before charging anything.
Stock
We hold small quantities and things sell out. If an item goes out of stock after you've ordered, we'll email you and either refund you or offer an alternative, whichever you prefer.
The products
Photographs are as accurate as we can make them, but screens differ and small variations in finish are normal. Measurements are given per product and are accurate to within a few millimetres.
Jewellery is not indestructible. Normal wear is covered by our returns policy, but damage from accident, misuse or alteration is not.
Returns
Set out in full in our returns policy, which forms part of these terms.
Using this site
- Don't copy our photographs, text or branding without permission
- Don't attempt to interfere with the site or its security
- Don't use the site for anything unlawful
Liability
We're responsible for getting you the product you paid for, in good condition. We're not liable for indirect losses beyond that.
Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other law that can't be excluded by agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one on this page when you place your order.
